I love a small, classy wedding. They are much more intimate, and you can really focus on the great emotion everyone is sharing without worrying about missing anything. Margie and Ryan lived in Florence when we met to discuss their wedding plans. They told me they were planning a simple but classy wedding with their dog Daisy as the maid of honor and I knew I was going to love shooting it. Charleston is always an amazing place to get married, but especially in September when the wedding is outside! Perfect weather, perfect scenery, and the best food in the Carolinas, what more do you need to have a perfect day? Daisy was the most adorable thing ever and the ceremony was under a beautiful huge angel Oak tree in Hampton Park. The weather was perfect, a warm fall afternoon with the a beautiful golden hour of light for their ceremony.
After the formal photos and portraits with the bride and groom, we headed downtown for the reception at the fantastic High Cotton Restaurant. They prepared a great back room and balcony where everyone enjoyed cocktails and fried oysters that are out of this world. Everyone laughed, ate, danced, and celebrated with the newly weds. Daisy even prepared a very special heart-wrenching speech that the mother of the bride read for her. I don’t know if everyone was crying from the sweetness or from the laughter, but the whole room was in tears. The rest of the evening was filled with stories and reminiscing from Citadel alumni that were close friends of Ryan’s, a Citadel graduate himself. As the evening winded down, everyone pulled out the sparklers and sent the pair off on the first steps of the rest of their life. Thanks for having me be part of your amazing day Margie & Ryan, and best of luck in your new life together in Virginia!
